A great hole in the wall KBBQ place in Richmond with better side dishes than bbq in my opinion. To caveat, I've only been here once so far and have heard lots of excellent things from friends who have been here many times. Food experience: we got the bulgogi beef bbq, the pa jun with seafood, and the duk kuk chicken dumpling soup. The bulgogi beef came out pre cooked and was honestly not great. It was a tough and chewy, and it was cooked a little longer than we would have liked (it was probably medium well to well done). I think we liked the banchan that came with the meal a bit more than we even liked the beef. The pa jun seafood pancake was incredible though. We loved the chunks of seafood in the dish and it was nice and crispy when it just came out hot. It could have been a little crispier but overall was great. It also came with this incredible dipping sauce that we used up completely. The duk kuk soup was excellent and we loved the chicken dumplings inside. Ambiance and Environment: It was a nice shop with lots of large tables and booths. It was a little dimly lit but overall was fine. It's not on the busiest street so I'd describe the ambiance as overall quite and calm rather than energetic and buzzing, though I'm sure that can change over time. We went for an early dinner around 5 pm so maybe things liven up later on. Service: the service was overall good. The restaurant seemed clean and the staff was friendly. Other: I'd say this is a place where you likely have a good chance of walking in at any time without a reservation, though it doesn't hurt to make one! Overall, I'd come back again and will make an effort to try their other cuts of meat in case they're better than the bulgogi.

We have been here pre pandemic and post pandemic. The experience has been different. Not that anything in particular is bad though. This review was based on a recent dinner experience. We went in round 8:00 PM with no reservation. Both of us were seated eight after. There were one large party and couple table with 2 to 4 guests. I usually likes to do BBQ ourselves but not that particular night. Therefore, we opted in for the kitchen to girll the black pig for us. In addition, we also ordered the seafood stew which we have not tried in this location and the kimchi pancake. Black pig was good but seemed that the portion was smaller than before, which I could understand where one of the recent comment came from fro a different grill meat dish. The seafood stew had variety of fish, shellfish, two different kind of crabs. We didn't expect much from the pancake as we have found an unbeatable one at another restaurant on Geary Blvd as well, but it was better than expected which I will consider ordering in the future. Service was decent, two ladies ran the show. The previous boss lady was not there, therefore, not sure if these lady took o er the business. Overall it was a decent meal.

For some reason, this place tastes even better than I remembered! The biggest downside for my younger self was the price, but if that's okay and you want the rare 5-star experience, this is the place!! All their meat cuts are incredible. We got the kalbi, "black" pork, beef tongue, and even intestine. All of it seemed to be cut and seasoned (if applicable) perfectly. The beef tongue stood out for me as rarely do I get the right thickness and chewiness. Now let's get to my fav part -- the bonchon! Good side dishes give me so much joy, and they make theirs in house. If anything, the only issue was that their kimchi was too fresh! I like it a little more sour -- my palate is used to worse food. Lastly, you can't go wrong with the rest of the menu. The seafood pancake was the best balance of lightness and flavor ever. None of the doughiness you get somewhat. Get it!!

Just wow! Delicious My fiancé and I decided to try this restaurant at around 2:30 pm on a Saturday. To my surprise, the restaurant only had 2 tables occupied. We were asked for our vaccination cards and then were seated. We ordered an appetizer and a soup for 2 and thoroughly enjoyed. Spicy, tasty, fresh, and so flavorful. It was so much food that we had to ask for a to go box. Around $60 for a lunch for 2 in SF is probably the going rate when it comes to a meal like this. Definitely recommend.
